Ramen Our Way

I present to you the staple of college students and frugal folks everywhere... Ramen Noodles.

We have been trying to find ways to make Ramen a bit tastier and add some more veggies into the mix, so this is what our Ramen noodles look like when we make them:

What you see there is a bowl of Beef Ramen topped with a diced tomato, a diced green onion, a handful of cilantro and a sprinkling of colby-jack cheese. I usually share a bowl with Anna, and it fills us both up and tastes delicious.

How do you make your Ramen?

  2. On way to do it, though not the healthiest, is as follows:

    1. Using a frying pan, fry up whatever meat you want (DH normally chooses steak). Make sure to use little pieces so that they cook thoroughly.

    2. When the meat is cooked, add in frozen veggies of your choice, the pasta noodle, and roughly a cup of water with the bullion packet dissolved in it.

    3. Cover and simmer for 5 - 10 minute or until veggies are thawed and warmed, and pasta is al dente. Make sure to keep an eye out! If you have the heat turned up to high it will boil over!

    4. Uncover pan and cook long enough to cook off the excess water.

    5. Enjoy!

  3. I use them to top Salads with. :D
Take a package and break it into small bits (usually there are a few little bits in each package anyway, that is the size you want them)
Sprinkle some over your salad and put the rest in a little storage container for next time.

  4. I just had some last night after a long day of non-stop rain. It hailed also.
Boil water and add package seasoning (be careful, there is MSG - to avoid, just add some soy sauce and a wee bit of sesame oil). I throw in some sliced carrots, some sliced onion and sliced cabbage. I let it all go to a rolling boil and drop an egg in the center. Once the egg is poached, I serve it up in a bowl. I use a spoon in the left hand, to slurp up the broth and chopsticks in the right hand to munch on the noodles, egg and veggies. Yummy for my tummy!
    Tootles!
